The bay within which Pigeon Lake Resort is located, has an average depth of thirty (30) feet. It is located at the north end of Pigeon Lake, and is less than one (1) kilometre wide and three (3) kilometres long, before it opens up into the main part of the lake. This makes for a weed free playground for all types of boating. The bay is not only perfect for people who like fishing, but is also perfect for other watersport activities such as waterskiing, tubing, and wakeboarding. Pigeon Lake is part of the historic Trent-Severn Waterway.

This bay is not only perfect for people who like fishing, but is also perfect for other watersport activities such as waterskiing, tubing, and wakeboarding. Pigeon Lake is a great lake to discover. There are many interesting destinations on the lake. There are two sandbars where you can moor at and enjoy the shallow waters. One sandbar is about a third of the way down the lake by Long Point Bay and a second sand bar is approximately half way down the lake, just north of Grenadier Island. You can also take a short boat ride into Bobcaygeon where you can dock and get out and explore the town for great shopping and restaurants and a short walk to Kawartha Dairy to try their amazing ice cream.
Big Island (also known as Boyd Island) is an 1100 acre island located approximately 3km south of us. It is totally uninhabited which provides a pristine and scenic shoreline. It is a great shoreline to boat past or fish near. On the east side of Big Island there is the Back Channel, which is more protected from the wind and it is calm water. During the summer you will usually see a couple of houseboats moored there overnight.
As you go farther east on the lake you enter into the Bald Lakes. These lakes provide a beautiful boating experience. As you enter Little Bald Lake it is weedy with a narrow channel that cuts through vast areas of wild rice. After crossing through this lake you go through a twisty channel and then you enter into Big Bald Lake, where you will see great evidence of the Canadian Shield. It is very scenic with trees growing out of rocks, but beware there are as many rocks under the water there waiting for your prop. This trip is scenic yet treacherous so you need to know where you are going or explore very carefully.
There are many other interesting boating opportunities on Pigeon Lake. Without going through any locks you can enter three lakes; Pigeon, Chemong and Buckhorn.
